JoAnn and her lovely Labrador, Tilly, make visits to schools, libraries, bookstores, and other organizations in the Northeast. During their forty-five minute to one-hour visit, JoAnn discusses the importance of training a dog properly and shows children and adults hands on examples of simple training techniques. JoAnn stresses not to overtrain your dog. Keep the training sessions to five-minute intervals and make training light and fun.
Motivation is the key to successful training. With her happy disposition, Tilly follows JoAnn’s commands easily and entertains everyone with her amazing tricks. Tilly is featured in the front of JoAnn’s book, Kids Training Puppies in 5 Minutes, and her puppies, as well as other puppies, are used in photos throughout the book.
JoAnn's book is available for purchase during her visit. 10% of proceeds on the day of the visit is donated to a local SPCA or shelter.
Visits are as follows:
For school aged children grades K-3: JoAnn brings puppy coloring sheets and bookmarks with helpful dog-training tips for each child. She and Tilly demonstrate simple training techniques and entertain the children with Tilly's many tricks. The children can then try a command with Tilly to be sure they understood the demonstration. Tilly happily obliges with a wiggly, waging tail.
For adult organizations: JoAnn discusses training techniques. She explains the importance of consistent training, and socializing for a well-rounded dog. She also demonstrates how well Tilly follows commands and shows everyone Tilly’s numerous tricks. JoAnn and Tilly love these visits, enjoying the time they spend with their viewers. JoAnn's book, Kids Training Puppies in 5 Minutes is made available for purchase and 10% of proceeds is donated to a local SPCA or shelter.
